Millennium Park has become one of the gifts presented in Yaroslavl, on the occasion of the millennial anniversary of the city. The date of the foundation was remote in the year 1010, where it took the place of the old race track in the Kotorosl embankment and was advantageously transformed, since it was a desolate territory. The construction of the park began in 2009, in the improvement of future destinations, and attended the usual Yaroslavl, the city administration and even honorable public figures. Famous citizens like Valentinoy Tereshkovoy, Boris Gryzlov, Alexandra Pahmutowa and Nikolaem Dobronravovym planted trees. A Yaroslavl company presented the park’s sources in the municipality and the businessmen were financially assisted. A year later, in September 2010, it was finally the grand opening. It is worth mentioning that the new park became part of the anniversary “City Park” on a large scale. The structure of this area also includes a business center, a hotel, a modern concert hall and a sports complex.
Of course, the park still cannot boast dense vegetation and picturesque alleys among the tall trees. So far, it only has current contours, but it is cozy and popular, especially as a walking area for children.
The park has the legendary symbol of Yaroslavl, a bear, and it is a bronze sculpture with a place of honor in the center of the park in Yaroslavl and was presented by Zurab Tsereteli. Yaroslavl initially did not accept a new guest (in this case, the sculpture), according to because it was not very elegant, and seemed somewhat aggressive. Over time, the bronze bear was accepted to stand in the park. Now all citizens of the state, with a dreamy mood, consider it as duty to rub the nose of the bright beast in the hope that their desire will come true.
Entertainment in the Park
The park’s trees entertain and say that it is for all tastes and ages. For babies, there is a colorful children’s playground, where not only children can play but also their mothers, because of the special coating of the rubber, as they soften the fall. Young people prefer an active holiday so there are bicycles and roller skates, and thanks to that you can get a dose of adrenaline in the place, even with a skateboard. In the evenings there are dances under the band that perform for the older generation.
And yet here you can sit on one of the benches near the fountain and simply read a book. The benefit of the surrounding atmosphere is conducive to such idyllic meditation holidays.
The Millennium Park has excellent neighbors. On the Kotorosl shore you will find the boat station and a yacht club. A little further away is the relaxation area, inviting the winter skate, and in summer it is transformed into a comfortable private beach. If you walk along the embankment in Kotorosl next to the center, you can reach the public beach, “Damansky island”. On the other hand is the modern concert hall “Millennium”, next to a café-restaurant, in addition to the summer shops, which extends to the open-air cinema. Across the street is the church of St. Nicholas, the Tijvin Church and the new planetarium.
