The “Music and Time” Museum was created in the early 1990’s by John Mostoslavskim who is a hereditary illusionist, magician and actor, as well as an avid collector of ancient adornment objects. The collection that can be seen today in the museum of Mostoslavsky, was collected throughout his life. A boy from Mostoslavsky was the one who started to collect the bells which later became the base of the museum. Today, in addition to a myriad of strange bells, here you can see a variety of old things, like watches, musical instruments, phonographs and gramophones.
Now “Music and Time”, it is not even a museum, it is a museum complex. It also includes the same name of the Museum of Porcelain, the Museum of Samovars and the Kasli of Cast Iron.
Museums can be visited independently or request a group trip. In addition, the museum staff organize trips in Yaroslavl.
The “Music and Time” Museum is where you can see the old instruments and musical mechanisms (including some interests like a harmonium or zanfona), all type of clocks, that go from the floor of the house and other objects of the old life . A special place in the exhibition occupies the largest number of bells: here you can see (and not only to see) small bells, and powerful church bells. Exposures can also be played and listened to.
About 2,000 items were collected in the Porcelain Museum, including those made in Russia and the USSR, as well as factories in Europe and China. The core of the collection is a product of Leningrad, Dulevo, Dmitrov, Gzhel factories, as well as a number of Ukrainian plants. Here you can see the real artworks, painted by famous artists. Among the exhibits are established figures, lamps, etc.
The Museum of Samovars offers visitors to get familiar with the samovars of several Russian cities, where each of them had a tradition of their own peculiar production of these ancient Russian household items. The second room of the exhibition is adjusted to the Kasli of cast iron, and the third presents articles of copper, mainly for religious reasons.
The concert hall in the museum has a small body, which was specifically created for the museum in Germany. The room opened in 2006, and since then, it has been visited not only by local people but also by foreigners artist. In the room is placed a collection of audio recordings, consisting of more than 15 thousand recordings, in the gramophone and records. Here we record the recordings of great singers and artists, as well as recording the speeches of the party leaders.
