The St. Petersburg Dolphinarium opened in 1998. It is a subsidiary of the Utrish dolphinarium, which is based in the village, in the Black Sea in 1984, on the basis of the marine research station as it was involved in the representation of bottlenose dolphins, beluga whales, seals, sea lions and walruses. During his acts, the animals can jump out of the water, jump through hoops, bring the trainers on their backs, sing, draw and perform other tricks that are always a delight for children and adults.
Dolphins sleep in a peculiar way, when one hemisphere is sleeping, the other is awake.
There is an artificial seawater pool. The salinity is close to the composition of the water in the Black Sea. Of course, containing the animals in their natural habitat in St. Petersburg is not possible, but the zoo staff is doing everything possible to make the actors feel comfortable.
There is a suggestion that the dolphins do not hear the human voice, but this is not the case, the dolphins are able to perceive music and loud voice, although they do not detect sounds in the higher frequencies.
