Russia is a highly developed country in all aspects of art. Throughout its history, it has produced great artists: dancers, conductors, opera singers, etc. Names that transcended borders and will always remain in the memory of lovers of these genres.

As for dance, great works of ballet have been born in Russia throughout history. The following is a small review in which we will name only a handful of important artists, since listing all of them would be almost impossible. We will also suggest a handful of places related to Russian ballet of interest to tourists, which can be visited during your journey to Russia.

As far as composers are concerned, we must highlight the most current classical music composer, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Among his enormous legacy are two of the best known works for classical ballet: “The Nutcracker” and “Swan Lake”. These two works have been performed countless times in all countries of the world by the most renowned ballet companies and by the most talented instrumentalists.

Dancers and Ballets: Among the most important male dancers, we can name Mikhail Barishnikov, Alexandr Ivanovich Pushkin and Rudolf Nuryev. Anna Pavlova and Maya Plisetskaya are two great representatives on the women’s side.

Among the most important ballets of Russia, we will name The Russian Ballets, The Mariinsky Ballet and the Bolshoi Theatre Ballet. All of them have had the participation of the best dancers, and have influenced other ballets in the world.

Great works of the Ballet: Many of the most classical ballet works have been created in Russia. This is the case of Tchaikovsky’s famous work, “Swan Lake”, which was premiered at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. Among the thousands of dancers who have performed it are the great Russian dancers Anna Pavlova and Rudolf Nurayev. Another well-known work is “The Nutcracker”, another of Tchaikovsky’s creations. From the hand of Igor Stravinsky comes the great work “The Rite of Spring”, “The Firebird” and “Petrushka”, just to name a few.

Theatres: During your trip in Russia, you will be able to visit the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. The plays described above and many more have been presented there. The best dancers have performed the most famous works.
