The “Kazan” Women’s Monastery in Yaroslavl

The “Kazan” Women’s Monastery is an architectural and spiritual treasure of the Golden Ring of Russia. This action is a 17th century dwelling, which, consists of four temples and a wooden bell tower, filled with bright bells of the District. Thousands of tourists come here to worship the miraculous image of Our Lady of Kazan, where you can visit and buy souvenirs. Several times during the year, the faithful go in procession to the nearby villages, and holidays are held for all the people. According to the opinion of pilgrims, it is a place of grace and erases any spiritual burden, there is a pleasure to admire the splendor of the monastery churches in Yaroslavl and the cathedrals. Walking in a small but well-kept territory is a pleasure and at the same time you can explore the local planetarium as it has an observatory and a cognitive entertainment complex.

The history of the “Kazan” Women’s Monastery

It’s one of the many legends. In 1609, during the Polish-Lithuanian intervention, near Polish Yaroslavl, there was a miraculous image of Our Lady of Kazan, which was acquired in 1579. One day, several faithful sent Our Lady’s message, where later a temple was built in Yaroslavl, and that is when her image was transferred. Shortly after the enemy miraculously withdrew, after one year, the grateful citizens erected a temple and it was installed on the road. Later, around the temple a convent was formed where 72 nuns fled here from the Christmas monastery to escape the enemies. Since the 20th century, the Kazan monastery has suffered repeated damage, however, it was rebuilt from the ruins in the last 20 years. It is now one of the pearls of the Golden Ring.

What to see?

The main shrine of the “Kazan” Women’s Monastery is a list of 19 shrines of the 20th century, which has the image of the miraculous Mother of God, although the original was lost earlier, along with other sacred objects. In the monastery there are also other famous artifacts, such as Agafangel’s svyaschennoispovednika.

The monastery in Yaroslavl “Kazan” is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Within its territory, there is the cathedral of the Kazan icon of the Mother of God, where the view of the image of the Virgin and the representation of the Lord is delightful. However, it is still in the process of restoration. Near the cathedral, as you cross it, there is the cult in memory of the events of blood in 1918.

The monastery in Yaroslavl (Golden Ring) was built with a new Planetarium. Valentina Tereshkova, was in charge of equipping the place with the most modern artifacts, which allows to see the space objects in a three-dimensional visualization.
