The Murom Bridge in Russia

This cable-stayed bridge was built in 2009 and has since become a prominent tourist attraction, i.e. one of the most outstanding. The bridge is crossed by the road over Moore and the connection to Vladimir’s Arzamas. It is 1.4 km long and 15 m wide and sits on three main pieces that it crosses on the bank of the middle river at a height of 85 m above the main road where it extends to a length of up to 230 m.

Before the construction of the bridge, the site was operated so that boats of the time could pass by; these were moved only in summer, as in the other seasons, it was not possible. The Oka Cross was in that place through a ferry. To help solve the problem, about 8 billion rubles were invested. The large-scale construction project lasted two years, which included the accesses to the bridge.

In 2007, the construction project won the title of “Project of the Year” in Russia. And in 2013 the Murom Bridge was in the results of the national competition organized by the Federal Road Agency and by popular vote it received the title of the most beautiful bridge in the country.

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin was present at the opening of the bridge in 2009.
The cable-stayed bridge, on which the bypass road passes, was the first in the Nizhny Novgorod region and the first to be completely designed and built in Russia. It is said that its capacity is about five thousand vehicles per day (and it is argued that this was only at the opening, so it should have a higher capacity today). This beautiful bridge can be seen from different points of Murom.

The bridge is able to “light up” some shops that are nearby, called Porche and “Lukoil”.

The spectacular Murom bridge is striking and refreshing because it is in a very beautiful place, where you can easily admire Oka, as well as the panoramas of its coasts. This bridge is called in other ways, such as “El Puente del Canto”, because like many other cable-stayed structures, it has the characteristic that in windy times, it is melodic, and produces hums that can be heard at some distance.

The bridge is located in the Navashino district, in the southern part of Murom.
